Our History

Over 25 Years of Impact

Our organisation’s journey through the shipping and logistics industry began in 1991, when founder Adam Imoru Ayarna started from the ground floor of the industry, and through professional studies, internal and external experience quickly found himself working with one of the best companies in the industry globally.

He was handed higher and increasingly more sensitive responsibilities early in career – within months of joining the A.P Moller-Maersk Group in Ghana he was tasked with creating a Logistics wing commencing with customs house brokerage. This was a very sensitive task within the Ghanaian customs industry, which at the time was always subject to scandal. With the valuable Maersk brand at stake,

Adam had to guide the name and add value within the Ghanaian industry. He was fortunate to have a dynamic team to support him. The team quickly gained a reputation for dynamism, earning the nicknames ‘The Mad House’ and soon, ‘The Dream Team’. He had the opportunity to commence trucking operations for the group which became the envy of the industry at the time. He quickly developed the logistics wing and led ‘The Dream Team’ to commence, amongst others, NVOCC operations, Inventory Management, Distribution and Bonded & Open Warehousing operations for Maersk Group in Ghana. This was yet another success story.

The icing on the cake for him was, in 1999, becoming the pioneer in the establishment of a container freight station. The station was the first in Ghana, paving the way for the establishment of more container freight stations (including off-dock container terminals) all over Ghana. He was expatriate to South Africa in late 2003, first in Johannesburg and then in Durban, where he acquired more experience as he took up the task of building staff capacity with a direct result of improving business processes and service delivery. He left a positive impression on everybody he worked with, and to date a lot of people still consider him as their mentor and continue to pick his brain. His challenge was over when Durban, formerly considered a trouble spot for what was then Maersk Logistics, was turned into a learning centre for the organisation.

He achieved this by motivating the staff and bringing out the best in them. The team earned the reputation as a winning team prior to his return to Ghana. Adam returned from South Africa in 2007 to head one of the shipping lines within the A.P. MOLLER- MAERSK GROUP, Safmarine Container Lines, with initial oversight over three countries, including Ghana. He finally bowed out of the huge corporate world in 2012 to concentrate on creating awareness in the maritime industry, through coaching and mentorship of the young up and comers in the industry. His passion for people and sharing his acquired knowledge in business led him to creating an indoor/outdoor multi-purpose space, CADESMEE, in Tema (the centre of the Ghanaian shipping universe). CADESMEE is open to the public for all purposes – company events, retreats, seminars, organisational training and even parties. With his overall contribution to the shipping industry in Ghana, the shipping association maintained his membership and elected him as their Vice President in May 2012, an office he still currently holds.

The challenge is on, and Adam is always looking at ways of assisting both small and medium sized logistics companies to be more professional and effective, and also bringing shipping knowledge to the doorstep of shipper and industry player. This is the challenge Adam Imoru Ayarna has now taken up. In one of his numerous presentations and training programs, he articulated his vision as ‘Let’s demystify shipping and make it part of our life.’ Cadesmee International was incorporated under the Ghana Companies Code, 1963 (Act 179) on 21st December 2009.
